Marianna Man Charged with Resisting Arrest

MARIANNA FLA:On Friday, July 22nd, 2022 at approximately 8:30am, officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to an address on Myles Street in reference to a wanted person. It was relayed that Desmond Martin was at his residence on Myles Street and it was determined he did have an active writ of attachment out of Jackson County. Officers conducted a search of the area and was unable to locate Martin. Shortly thereafter, another call was received by communications stating that they were inside the residence with Martin and he was present with firearms.
Officers and Investigators attempted to contact Martin at his residence. Officers heard individuals inside the residence but could not get anyone to the door. During this same time, another call was received stating that Martin had a firearm and was brandishing it towards the kids. Based on this information, contact was made with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team for their response to assist.
BCSO SWAT arrived on scene and took over incident command. After negotiators spoke with Martin, Martin surrendered himself. Martin was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility. Martin was additionally charged with resisting arrest without violence.
During the investigation in regards to the firearm, it was discovered that those were false allegations made. This incident remains under investigation and more individuals may be charged.
