MARIANNA FL:     On Friday RSN posted where Bay County Sheriff SWAT Team was responding to the City of Marianna to a stand off.

RSN posted Jackson County Florida Sheriff Department had no knowledge of this stand off.

Below you will see a press release sent to media, other than RSN. Apparently Marianna Florida Chief of Police has removed RSN from the press releases. Which is fine.

When Hayes Baggett was running for Sheriff of Jackson County we were included.

On Friday I said Hayes Baggett deserved a stupid slap and swift kick between the legs because he did not notify the Sheriff Department in the county he is Chief of Police in, yet calls Bay County Florida Sheriff and SWAT Team. Jackson County Sheriff Department had no knowledge of the stand off.

On Saturday a Sneads Police Officer and Jackson County Sheriff Deputy were ambushed on a call a few minutes after 8 AM. The Sneads Police Officer took multiple gunshots before the Jackson County Sheriff Deputy could use deadly  physical force and kill the gunman. The Sneads Police Officer was air lifted to Tallahassee Florida.

This is why it is important departments work together, radio communications is common, and departments do not hide important active situations from other departments within their own counties.

The Chief of Police in Marianna is an elected position. Hayes Bagget should resign. The voters elected someone else for Jackson County Sheriff. Get over it, work with the Sheriff.

The Sneads Police Officer getting shot should be proof enough that it is past time to work together.

PRESS RELEASE MARIANNA POLICE FROM FRIDAY

On Friday, July 22nd, 2022 at approximately 8:30am, officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to an address on Myles Street in reference to a wanted person. It was relayed that Desmond Martin was at his residence on Myles Street and it was determined he did have an active writ of attachment out of Jackson County. Officers conducted a search of the area and was unable to locate Martin. Shortly thereafter, another call was received by communications stating that they were inside the residence with Martin and he was present with firearms.

Officers and Investigators attempted to contact Martin at his residence. Officers heard individuals inside the residence but could not get anyone to the door.  During this same time, another call was received stating that Martin had a firearm and was brandishing it towards the kids. Based on this information, contact was made with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team for their response to assist.

BCSO SWAT arrived on scene and took over incident command. After negotiators spoke with Martin, Martin surrendered himself. Martin was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility. Martin was additionally charged with resisting arrest without violence.

During the investigation in regards to the firearm, it was discovered that those were false allegations made. This incident remains under investigation and more individuals may be charged.

Chief Hayes Baggett would like to thank Sheriff Tommy Ford and the Bay County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, the Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Marianna Fire Department, and Jackson County Fire and Rescue.
