Dothan, Alabama - Join Mayor Mark Saliba on Monday, May 13th at the Main Library as he helps the Dothan Houston County Library System kick off their annual Summer Reading Program, A UNIVERSE OF STORIES! Everyone who registers on Monday, May 13th will receive a free library bag or fan.
In order to ensure that their patrons have an astronomical summer, DHCLS is planning an engaging space-themed program for kids, teens, and adults to make Dothan/Houston County a great place to discover reading and learning while school is out. Every summer, the library’s goal is to encourage people of all ages to read and continue learning throughout every state of their lives. DHCLS’ annual 12-week set of activities and programs challenges everyone to read at least 30 minutes a day in the summer months. These efforts provide an essential opportunity for kids to stay engaged, stay encouraged, keep learning, and be prepared for success when school resumes.
Children, teens, and adults can qualify for prizes and contest drawings just by reading and logging their titles over the summer. Registration begins on Monday, May 13th. For more information on how to participate, what prizes are available, and what special events are happening in conjunction with the program, please visit any library location, or the DHCLS website at: www.dhcls.org.
