DOTHAN: Tonight I had the distinct honor and extreme privilege of being invited to Denny's Restaurant to be a part of one of our Armed Forces members returning home.
Returning home after over 300 days of being gone, 295 days on the ocean. What started as around the world on USS Abraham Lincoln turned into being sent to the Middle East in May.
Tonight, Rehobeth High School graduate, Spencer Blair walked into Denny's to see his family for the first time in over 300 days. He wanted a big surprise for his mother as they got to see each other.
Prior to Spencer entering his family and friends put together a slide show of Spencer's service. There was a few technical difficulties at first and FACEBOOK sent me a email that some of the music might be copyrighted on the livestream. So if there are gaps in the livestream it is not our fault or the fault of Spencer's friend and family who put it together.
It was a great tribute to one who is in the Armed Forces willing to serve and protect these the United States of America and the freedoms we enjoy.
After the slideshow played it was announced the welcome of Spencer Blair and he walked in the side door of Denny's. The happy look on everyone's face, the excitement and joy, was heartwarming and brought tears of joy to everyone present.
Again I had the distinct honor of a brief interview with Spencer following the family hugs and tears. While the meeting was brief Spencer was impressive and seemed a very cool guy that would be interesting in talking with about the military and life. I have asked his family if time while home would love to sit down and do a interview with him.
To Spencer's family that invited me to be a part of this homecoming, THANK YOU.
To Spencer, THANK YOU for the service and sacrifice to these the United States of America.
