There has been a report of a phone scam. The victim receives a phone call and is told a relative is in jail and bond money is required for release. If the victim agrees, the caller instructs the victim to turn the money over to a courier or arrange to meet. This is false. MPD does not solicit bond money via phone.
Remember to always be cautious when personal information is requested over the telephone.
We encourage residents that fall victim to these types of scams to report the incident to the Montgomery Police Department by calling 911.
Police ask individuals with knowledge of this type of scam to call CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP, Secret Witness at 625-4000 or MPD at 625-2831.
