A narcotics search warrant at a Crestview area home Thursday turned up methamphetamine that led to two arrests on drug charges, but deputies also discovered a home in deplorable condition with five young children inside.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit went to the property August 1st to look for drugs. A search of an RV on site turned up methamphetamine in multiple locations, glass smoking devices, and digital scales.
The RV resident, 54-year old Elizabeth Edge, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a place of worship, failing to report child abuse, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 28-year old Devon Boles is also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
During the investigation, deputies discovered the main residence was filthy. The five children inside were dirty and did not appear to have been bathed recently. 24-year old Chelsea Howell was charged with five counts of child neglect.
The Florida Department of Children and Families removed the youngsters from the home for safety reasons.
