Niceville Man Arrested After Eight Hour Standoff

OKALOOSA COUNTY:A Niceville man who entered into an hours long standoff with Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies faces multiple charges ranging from domestic battery to possession of weapons by a convicted felon.
Deputies responded to a domestic violence call from the home of 41- year old Michael Leavins Wednesday morning around 8:30. The victim had fled the house, but Leavins refused commands to come outside and instead locked the doors.
The OCSO Special Response Team ultimately found him hiding in the attic, adding "obstructing a search warrant" to located multiple weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition inside the house, along with a pistol inside in his car.
