Evelyn Reeves Wells, 93, of Panama City, Florida left this world to join her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Ms. Wells was born in Cottonwood, Alabama to Lee Ander Reeves and Dona Lenora (Canada) Reeves. She attended Cottonwood High School and Campbellton Business School, residing in Hartford, AL and Dothan, AL before moving to Panama City, FL in 1983. She was an active member of Saint Andrews Baptist Church in Panama City where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was very grateful for her Sunday School teachers and friends who continued to visit and include her after she was not able to regularly attend services.
Ms. Wells worked for the Life of Georgia Insurance Company for 44 years and served as the Executive Secretary of the Panhandle Underwriters Association of Panama City.
Evelyn Wells is preceded in death by 6 sisters and a brother; Ruby Ready (Panama City, FL), Mary Barentine (Sneads, FL) Gladys Smith (Cottonwood, AL) Dona Merle Baxley (Plant City, FL), Edna Smith (Cottonwood, AL) Mildred Jordan (Panama City, FL) and Jimmy Wayne Reeves (Graceville, FL).
She will be dearly missed but joyfully remembered by her family and friends; 1 sister, Betty Barker (Norm Pegues) of Milledge, GA; a daughter, Susan Cook (Tommy) of Panama City, FL; 2 grandchildren, Lauren Cook and Logan Cook (Chaylie); and a great-granddaughter, Alina Cook, of Panama City, FL; a son, Kenneth Wells (Katherine) of Pell City, AL; numerous nieces and nephews; and longtime friends and church family.
Evelyn and the family are very grateful also for her friends, caregivers, and administrators of Brookdale Senior Living in Panama City, FL and Sodalis Assisted Living in DeFuniak Springs, FL.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Ms. Wells will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
