Opelike Police/Lee County Make Arrest During Warrant Search

On 06/10/2021 the Opelika Police Narcotics Division, along with the Lee County SWAT Team, conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 2400 Block of Airport Road. During the search, Detectives recovered a large quantity of narcotics believed to be methamphetamine. Detectives also recovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia and several firearms. Four suspects were arrested on the following charges:


• Mitchel Welborn, 48 yoa, is charged with Drug Trafficking, Manufacture of Controlled Substance, First Degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

• Charles Buchanan, 52 yoa, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance

• Nicholas Holloway, 18 yoa, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana, Second Degree

• Christopher Garrett, 38 yoa, was arrested for Writ of Arrest from the Lee County Sheriff Office
