And they who for their country die shall fill an honored grave, for glory lights the soldier’s tomb, and beauty weeps the brave. —Joseph Rodman Drake
One year ago today I placed this beautiful floral arrangement with an American Flag at the Angel Of Hope to remember and to honor PFC Malcolm Blackman who gave the ultimate sacrifice for his beloved country 78 years ago today..Five days after D-Day in a far away field outside of Normandy France.
I walked up on Malcolm’s headstone a couple of years ago as I was visiting my Mom and Dad’s burial place.
It was obvious no one had been there for a very long time and I later found out after posting his headstone on Facebook that Malcolm was the great uncle to a friend of mine’s husband.
They didn’t know where he was buried but they had his purple heart and a picture of him.
I was so thankful to have a picture of PFC Malcolm Blackman to put with the inscription on his headstone.
78 years after giving your life for me and for all of us...it is my honor to place this floral arrangement at the Angel Of Hope for you Malcolm.
I now feel like I know you and tomorrow I will go to your resting place and leave these flowers there for you.
PFC Malcolm Blackman
