A Slight Risk (2 of 5) for severe storms has been introduced for our western most counties for Friday. The Slight Risk for excessive rainfall on Friday has been pulled back to the west, with a Marginal risk for our northwestern counties and western FL panhandle.

A Slight Risk (2 of 4) for Excessive Rainfall has been introduced for most of the area into the forecast for Saturday May 18.

Marginal (1 of 5) Risk for severe storms is possible for Friday for areas along and west of the I-75 Corridor. A Slight (2 of 5) Risk exists for our western most counties. It would appear that another round of thunderstorms, capable of producing all hazards such as damaging winds, tornadoes, and hail, is possible. Heavy rain is also expected to accompany these storms. All counties except for Dixie Co, FL are highlighted in a Marginal (1 of 5) Risk for severe storms on Saturday. Same hazards from Friday will continue into Saturday.

Areas north and west of the Albany-Panama City line are in a Marginal (1 of 4) Risk for Excessive Rainfall on Friday, while Coffee and Dale County, AL are included in a Slight (2 of 4) Risk. The heavy rain threat continues into Saturday with a Slight (2 of 4) Risk highlighting most of the region, with the Southeast Big Bend in a Marginal Risk. Forecast rainfall totals are currently about 1-3 inches area wide, with isolated higher amounts.

The timing is subject to change as we are still a few days out, but the best timing for these storms will be from Friday afternoon through the overnight hours and through the day Saturday. Saturday’s severe weather potential will be dependent on how Friday pans out.
