Power Outage due to Vehicle Accident

Dothan - Around 9:30 this morning the north side of Dothan went dark when a dump truck pulled down powerlines and a power pole that had multiple transformers on it. Fire Prevention Officer, Captain Poole, was in the area and arrived just after the accident occurred. Engine 9, Captain Rusty Smith’s crew arrived to stand by for any fire needs and to assess the patient once the power was cut to the lines. The driver remained in the dump truck until Dothan Utilities could arrive and secure the power. Chief Jason Braswell was in charge of the scene. Multiple red lights are our in the area and Dothan Police are directing traffic. Please be mindful of these officers in the intersections and pay attention when the red lights are out. This will be a major project to replace and power could be out for a few hours.
