Private Commissioning Ceremony held for Samford University Fellow and Graduate

On May 13,  2020 Samford University Fellow and graduate,  Matthew David R. Sauer was commissioned as an officer in the US Air Force in Dothan, AL in a private ceremony due to the Covid -19 Pandemic. After completing his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics he was slated for service as an Air Force Operational Research Officer. He will continue his education at the Air Force Institute of Technology in Ohio with a Masters in Applied Mathematics. Matthew is a 2016 graduate of Dothan High School and former Battalion Commander of the DHS JROTC. Present at the commissioning were his mother, Kelly Sauer, his grandmother, Kathleen Sauer, CW4 Irvin, and SGM Tracy Adams. His first salute was giving by SGM Adams and 2LT Sauer presented a traditional silver dollar.
