HOLMES COUNTY, FLORIDA: On September 9, deputies with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Suburban after seeing the vehicle run off of the road several times on Sandpath Road in Bonifay.
The vehicle failed to stop when deputies’ lights and sirens were activated; they instead accelerated as they traveled through town and ran a red light at the intersection of Highway 79 and Highway 90.
The pursuit continued down several streets in Bonifay and then continued eastbound on Highway 90.
The vehicle then abruptly turned into a private driveway, went behind the residence, continued through a fence into a pasture, and ultimately into a ditch.
The driver fled the vehicle and ran across Highway 90 but is believed to have been picked up by another vehicle.
Soon after the vehicle crashed, dispatchers advised deputies that a homeowner near the area reported an attempted break in at their home. Deputies responded and located Bobby Swisher of Pensacola hiding on the property.
Swisher would not cooperate with law enforcement commands but was eventually taken into custody and transported to the Holmes County Jail.
In addition to active warrants out of Navajo County, Arizona, Swisher has been charged with attempted burglary, trespassing, and resisting an officer without violence.
