Quick knock Down of Afternoon Structure Fire in Dothan

Dothan – At 12:30 this afternoon Dothan Communications received a call for a house on fire at 1020 Deborah St. Dothan Fire, Dothan Police and Pilchers were dispatched to the scene. Engine 1 was leaving a medical call and arrived shortly after Fire Prevention 3 Officer. FP 3 advised he had a single-story brick family dwelling with smoke visible, working fire and would be Deborah Command. Engine 1 arrived on scene to and would pull a 1.75” attack line and make an offensive interior attack on the fire. Engine 2 arrived and was the safety officer and the RIC, Rapid Intervention Team. Engine 3 arrived to assist with fire attack and search while Truck 3 performed search and rescue operations. While units were responding the Comm Center notified everyone that the occupant was not leaving the inside of the house and the fire was in the bed room. However, upon arrival the occupant did exit the structure and had an all clear of the home. Battalion 2 responded to assume command from FP3. Engine 1 interior made a very quick attack and found a mattress on fire in the bedroom. After extinguishment the mattress was moved outside. Smoked was removed from the house using a battery operated positive pressure fan and the electrical was cut off in the breaker box. Engine 1 Used the fire hydrant that was in the front yard. Fire Prevention Captain 3 and 5 investigated the fire. No injuries were reported.
