On July 30th Jesus wrapped his arms around my best friend Jerry Herring and took him to his Heavenly Home.

I took the picture of Jerry standing in front of the home on Broad St that he grew up in and also the picture of Jerry and Larry Smith together. Larry on occasion would ride with Jerry when they were both going to school in Auburn.

As you can see in the other pictures I took of Jerry…He loved his sport cars.

Larry told me that Jerry would drive with his left foot hanging out the window and one hand on the steering wheel.

Jerry was one of a kind. Very smart…Very talented…Loved Life…

Jerry Herring made this world a better place to be.

He was in the marching band at Auburn University and got his degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

Later he went to Cumberland Law School and after receiving his Law Degree he first practiced law in Birmingham and then opened up his own Law Firm in Dothan.

I’m proud to tell how Jerry and I first met and then later became best friends.

When I was getting divorced in 1993 he was my wife’s lawyer.

How many times do you hear of your ex’s attorney becoming your best friend?

A few days before Jerry passed I held his hand and told him I loved him.

As I was walking out of his bedroom Jerry kept saying over and over “ I love you Steve”

Yes I love my friend Jerry Herring and I will miss him every day.

I will miss his messages on my phone…”Hey Steve This Is Jerry Give Me A Call“

Jerry loved his hometown of Headland and the people of Headland that he grew up with.

Please keep his loving wife Geraldine and daughter Laurie in your thoughts and prayers.

Obituary….Jerry R. Herring, a resident of Dothan, died early Tuesday evening, July 30, 2024, at his home. He was 86.

Jerry Herring was born and reared in Headland, son of the late Jackie V. Herring and Ilene Johnson Herring.

He was a 1956 graduate of Headland High School.

Jerry served his country in the U. S. Air Force in the late 1950’s.

He attended Auburn University where he received a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

While a student at Auburn, he was a member of the marching band.

Jerry received a Juris Doctorate Degree from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.

An attorney, he practiced law in Dothan for many years in the Herring Law Firm.

Jerry was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was a former member of the Dothan Country Club.

He served for several years as a photographer for the Auburn football team.
