COFFEE COUNTY:   This evening Retired Coffee County Sheriff Benji Moates passed away.

Sheriff Moates has been fighting an extended illness for a period of time.

Sheriff Moates served for 12 years as Coffee County Sheriff. He served after Sheriff Brice Paul retired. 

Sheriff Moates was succeeded by Sheriff Dave Sutton.

Sheriff Moates was a good man and dedicated to the service of the citizens of Coffee County. Funeral arrangements to be announced.
