Rick Shehane...Gone Fishin’

Today I placed this floral arrangement at the Angel Of Hope for my longtime friend and fishing buddy...Rick Shehane who God called Home on September 1, 2021.

I’d like to share with you all that I know about my friend Rick.....

First and Foremost...Rick’s best friend IS ( I refuse to say was because nothing has changed just his address) his wife of 51 years..Martha.

Some men think that telling their buddies how much they love their wife makes them look “ Wimpy “.

Well Rick would let you know all the time how much he loves his best friend and not a single friend of his ever thought that he was a wimp for saying “ I Love Martha Very Much “

Rick is a great father and grandfather as well. His children Joni and Jeffrey...grandchildren Emily, Landon, Raylee and Sydney are the apple of his eye.

I’ll always keep the wonderful memories we had together fishing at the St. John’s River. I took my best friend Sam Hathcock to meet Rick for a weekend of fishing for the elusive 2 pound bluegills at the St. Johns River that each of us held so dear.

Now both of my friends who went on that trip are now in Heaven.

I told Rick’s daughter Joni this morning that I doubt I’ll ever return there because all of the wonderful memories we had together at the St John’s would probably bring more tears in my eyes than fish in my ice chest.

The older I get the more of those wonderful memories of my friends who are no longer here keep increasing and I feel selfish for saying this...but it is a very lonely feeling.

To my fishing buddies Rick and Sam...save me a spot on that river in Heaven...I’ll be looking for you when my day comes.

One other thing I’d like to share with you... Both Rick and Sam always told me how proud they were of me for doing the Angel Of Hope.

I never dreamed I’d be placing flowers at the Angel Of Hope for them.

I love y’all my friends
Steve Hardwick
