A broken line of thunderstorms will move into northwest Alabama this afternoon, continue southeastward and exit the southeastern portions of the state early Wednesday morning. In addition, a few supercells could develop ahead of the line as well.
A number of damaging wind gusts, hail one inch or greater, and several tornadoes are all possible due to this event. The tornado threat is rather conditional, as this is not the typical upper-level pattern associated with spring-time tornado events in Alabama. Still, the potential is there and will increase if supercells can develop both ahead of and within the broken line of storms.
Much of the state is now in an Enhanced Risk. The beginning time has been moved up for the southern and eastern portions of the state for the potential of a few supercells to develop ahead of a broken line of storms.
