Santa Rosa Beach Woman Arrested for Stolen VehicleMatt Boster

Jackson County: On January 16, 2021, at approximetly 6:15 am, a deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Love’s Travel Center on Highway 231 South of Cottondale in reference to a stolen vehicle. Information given to the deputy from the victim and security surveillance footage provided the deputy with a description of two potential suspects in the theft. The vehicle was last seen traveling South on Highway 231. The descriptions of the two suspects were shared with other agencies in an effort to locate the vehicle and charge the suspects with grand theft of a motor vehicle.
On January 17, 2021, at approximately 12:00 pm, the Jackson County sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Panama City Beach Police Department in reference to this case. A PCBPD Officer was on active patrol and observed a vehicle matching the description of the reported stolen vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted on that vehicle and it did return as stolen out of Jackson County. The driver was identified as Aimee Smith of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Smith was wearing the same clothes at the time of the traffic stop as when she enterd the vehicle at the Love’s Travel Center.
Aimee Smith was arrested in Bay County by the Panama City Beach Police and charged her with being in possession of a stolen vehicle and driving without a driver’s license.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has filed charges against Aimee Smith for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle in Jackson County.
