ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - Search efforts restarted at sunrise Friday to find two people missing after boats collided on Lake Jordan late Thursday night, according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Marine Patrol.

Lake Jordan, located about 25 miles north of Montgomery in Elmore County was busy for Fourth of July festivities, much like many bodies of water across the state.

It’s unclear what happened, but a total of seven people were involved when the two boats hit.

ALEA Patrol Commander Capt. Gary Buchanan said it was believed at least five were injured. One victim was flown to an unknown hospital by medical helicopter with serious injuries. At least one was also taken by ambulance, he stated.
