She’s Fire On Highway 605 - Medical Emergency On Ready Road

SOUTHERN JUNCTION - REHOBETH:    2:44 pm     911 Dispatched multiple VOLUNTEER fire departments to a shed fire.

The location of the fire was 13016 S. State Highway 605. The reports from 911 dispatch was shed on fire.

Responding to the fire, Southern Junction Volunteer Fire Department, Madrid Volunteer Fire Department, and Rehobeth Volunteer Fire - EMS.

The attack was on offensive attack and the combined Volunteer Fire Depatrments jumped on the fire and got it contained in a quick period of time.

And remember, it is currently 97 degrees in Ashford Alabama. So the Volunteer Fireman in their fire gear and air packs, imagine what the temperature was for them! And they do this for FREE in service to their community.

Following the fire, the fireman are required to re-load the fire engines with fire hose used after washing it off and preparing it for the 911 call that has not happened yet. The volunteer fireman are required to re-fill the fire engines with water to be prepared for the 911 calls that has not happened yet. The Volunteer Fireman are required to fill their air packs with air to be prepared for the 911 call that has not happened yet. And the fire engine and associated equipment has to be fueled up for the 911 call that has not happened yet. Only after these assignments which come after fighting the fire are the fireman ready to carry the trucks and equipment back to the station.

This past week following the DHODGE Road fire, former Houston County Commissioner Doug Sinquefield sent the following text message:  THANKS RO CHIEF RANDY HALL AND HOUSTON COUNTY VOLUNTEERS ON BEHALF OF FORMER HOUSTON COUNTY COMMISSIONER SINQUEFIELD FOR THEIR EFFORTS TO CONTROL THE FIRE ON DHODGE ROAD." 

Former Houston County Commissioner Doug Sinquefield would respond to the fires to minister to the volunteers and the victims of the fire, and would roll up his sleeves and work along side of the fireman. Commissioner Sinquefield attended the Voluteer Fire Chief Meetings and EMS Association meetings and was interested, and more importantly involved, in the delivery of emergency services.

Former Commissioner Sinquefield did not seek re-election as Commissioner but sought election as Chairman of the Houston County Commission. D4 Commissioner Brandon Shoupe went on to win the election.

Shoupe was placed on the pages for Wicksburg Volunteer Fire - EMS when Chris Judah was Emergency Management Director. It did not take long before then D4 Commissioner Shoupe wanted off those pages.

Now the commissioners, who do not respond, want additional paperwork from the volunteer fireman on the funds they get. Yet NONE of the commissioners who draws a base salary of $ 33,000.00  year bother to respond, get their hands dirty, or minister to the victims of these fires.

Especially at 97 degrees!

DOTHAN FIRE TO REHOBETH

While this fire was going on Rehobeth EMS was dispatched to Ready Road to a medical emergency. Dothan Fire was requested mutual aid assistance for advanced life support. So while the volunteers were fighting the shed fire, Rehobeth EMS was on a medical emergency and Dothan Fire rolled to assist.
