The month of May is Small Business Month, and RSN is spotlighting those who deserve recognition during this special time.

One small business owner who deserves recognition is Garrick Vest of Enterprise.

Vest owns several small businesses including Weevil Nut Co. and Main Street Candy Company, both located in Downtown Enterprise. He will be opening another next month.

Weevil Nut Co. opened in 2019 right before the pandemic hit, and Main Street Candy Company opened in June of 2022.

Main Street Candy Company is a sweet, unique, and fun destination for the young and young at heart with its variety of candies and desserts.

Weevil Nut Co. is a nut store and so much more; they are a one-stop shop for that special gift for anyone on your list.

Vest says it took a lot of research, planning, hard work, and determination to get started opening small businesses. “If it were easy, everyone would do it!” Vest said.

He said he would give anyone looking to start a small business the advice to find a need, fill it, have faith, and take a leap.

When asked what the most popular items at each business are, he said that the best sellers at the candy store are bulk candy, homemade fudge, and soft-serve ice cream. Nuts, salsas, jams, and jellies are at the top of the list for the nut store.

Vest said he came up with the name Weevil Nut Co. in 2019 during the Centennial Celebration of the Boll Weevil Monument, and that sparked his interest in opening a local peanut shop. He wanted to keep the name for the candy store as “downtown and local as possible.”

Vest is planning to open another business in June, which will also be in Enterprise called The Daily Bread. This establishment will be a full-service bakery with a coffee bar that will serve breakfast and lunch and host private events in the evenings and on the weekends.

He said the goal for this new business is to provide a gathering place where people can come and break bread with friends, family, and others in the community. He hopes that it is a place where people can get filled physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Vest is married to his biggest supporter, Hannah. Together, they have 3 kids: Katelynn, Kinley, and Klara Beth.

He says one thing he wants everyone to always remember is that with God, all things are possible.

When your sweet tooth kicks in, stop by the candy store in Enterprise and fill a bag. If you are feeling nutty, stop by Weevil Nut Co.

Remember to support and check out The Daily Bread in June.
