The month of May is Small Business Month, and RSN is supporting those who deserve recognition during this special time.

One local small business that deserves to be recognized is The Farmer’s Daughter Country Store located at 4126 U.S. Highway 231 North in Ozark.

Brooke Hughes is the owner of this unique establishment that has been open since June of 2020. In fact, June 24th of this year is their three-year anniversary celebration where they will have special vendors and other fun. Everyone is welcome to attend Hughes said.

If your stomach is growling, this is the place to be as they have a variety of delicious favorites such as cheeseburgers, BBQ, chili dogs, and pizza with a variety of sides to choose from.  Their huge, loaded BBQ baked potatoes and loaded BBQ salads are amazing and are sure to fill you up!

The Farmer’s Daughter also takes special orders of Boston butts, whole chickens, racks of ribs, and pounds of BBQ.

When asked what their most popular item or dish was, Hughes said that it was hard to choose, but she would have to say it is a toss-up between the BBQ, baked beans, or chili dogs.

Not only is this business a restaurant, but it also sells fun items such as wax melts, candles, car scents, boiled peanuts, honey, and other items that people can treat themselves or others to.

They serve and sell their own local honey through Monkey Foot Bee Co.; they even have an observation beehive, and recently, they had State Bee Inspector Phillip Carter present information about bees to the public. They will have another meeting with him on June 12, and it, too, is open to the public.

Hughes said that she and her staff love that they can be a part of all of the surrounding communities and that they have met so many people who have become more like family.

The Farmer’s Daughter opened right after everything shut down because of Covid, so Hughes says it was a little scary starting a business during that time. She said it was her faith in the Lord and His guidance that allowed her to feel that with hard work and good food, everything would work out like it should.

“The good Lord has been so faithful, and we have been amazed at how He has worked everything out with the business,’ Hughes said.

She said she would tell anyone interested in opening a small business to get ready to work harder than you ever thought you could but to understand that it is all worth it if you love what you are doing.

When asked how she came up with the business name, she said her husband has been a poultry farmer for over 26 years, and they were blessed with three daughters, so it felt like an easy decision to name it “The Farmer’s Daughter.”

“We are so very thankful for the support of our friends and family and the surrounding communities. We have an amazing staff, and we definitely realize how blessed we are. We just hope we can continue to put a smile on our customers’ faces," Hughes said.

Their business hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 AM to 7 PM and Saturday from 10:30 AM to 3 PM.

Next time you are in or around Ozark or driving up or down Highway 231, give your taste buds a treat by stopping by The Farmer's Daughter Country Store for some BBQ or even boiled peanuts.  If you need a gift for someone or just want to treat yourself, stop by for a candle or wax melt!

And remember- support your local small businesses!
