On 5/11/2020, Dothan Police Investigators, in cooperation with Houston County Department of Human Resources, followed up on a potential elderly neglect reported by Houston County DHR.  Investigators discovered the victim had passed away in the hospital over the weekend.

A follow up with the hospital through medical records and other relatives revealed the victim was under the care of her son, James Parrish.  Investigators uncovered evidence Parrish neglected to provide the proper care to the victim’s medical conditions.  As a result of the neglect, the victim passed away in a local hospital Sunday.

James Walter Parrish (61) of Dothan was charged with Manslaughter and Elder Abuse 1st Degree and is being held without bond.
