The State Board of Veterans Affairs (SBVA) chose Rabren General Contractors to build a new home in Enterprise in January of 2020.

The home, which has been named the Command Sgt. Maj. Bennie G. Adkins State Veterans Home, is a skilled nursing facility that will be 182,000 square feet and will house a total of 174 residents.

The City of Enterprise Facebook page recently shared a video that shows the progress of the home from SBVA.

The site will be on 108 acres north of Yancey Parker Industrial Park off Highway 51; this particular site was chosen due to the large population of veterans in Coffee County.

According to the SBVA, Enterprise is expected to see a significant growth in the veteran population in coming years.

The home is expected to provide more than 200 jobs for people in the community.

Groundbreaking of the facility took place last year on June 17, and it is expected to be completed and open in 2024.

SBVA stated that although progress on the facility is continuing, they want to clarify that the admissions and employment processes have not yet begun. They will announce when applications are being accepted.
