PONCE DE LEON FLA:On June 28, 2024, deputies from the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle parked in front of the Big Boss store in Ponce de Leon.

HCSO deputy arrived at the Big Boss store and observed a vehicle with its window down. In plain view inside the vehicle, the deputy noticed digital scales and a plastic bag containing what appeared to be methamphetamine. After waiting for the vehicle’s owner to return for several hours, the deputy decided to tow the vehicle due to its suspicious nature and lack of response from the owner.

During the inventory search conducted prior to towing, deputies discovered additional drug paraphernalia and a larger quantity of methamphetamine. A wallet found in the center console identified the vehicle’s owner as David Everette.

Further investigation led deputies to locate David Everette at a nearby rest area. A consensual search of his person revealed a crack rock in his pocket. Everette was promptly placed under arrest and transported back to the Big Boss store for further investigation.

Upon reviewing the surveillance footage from the store, deputies confirmed that Everette was the sole occupant of the vehicle and had driven up to the store alone.

Once transported to the Holmes County Jail, Everette admitted to concealing additional contraband. A thorough search revealed approximately 18 grams of methamphetamine hidden in a plastic bag on his rectal area.

David Everette has been charged with the following offenses Trafficking in methamphetamine, Possession of cocaine, Possession of marijuana, and Possession of drug paraphernalia
