JACKSON COUNTY: On November 16, 2021, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) observed a suspicious motorcyclist in the area of Compass Lake in the Hills.
The deputy also noticed the motorcycle did not have a license plate. He activated his lights in attempt to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspect failed to comply.
The suspect later left the motorcycle and fled on foot into a wooded area. The deputy gave a description of the driver to the Drug Task Force which was able to confirm the individual was Gabriel Reece, who had a warrant for Violation of Probation. A perimeter was set on the west side of Highway 231 and the K-9 Tracking Unit was requested and deployed.
K-9 Randy established a track heading in a southerly direction. The track continued south then turned east and crossed over Highway 231. The track continued in the same direction for approximately a quarter of a mile and ended up on Lake Point Road.
In the area of the incident, a suspicious vehicle was located. A traffic stop of the vehicle was conducted and the passenger of the vehicle was determined to be the fleeing suspect. The passenger was identified as Gabriel Reece. Reece was taken into custody for a Violation of Probation Warrant and Fleeing and Attempting to Elude as well as traffic citations. The driver, Angela Ragan, was charged with Fleeing and Attempting to Elude and Expired Driver’s License Over One Year.
Sheriff Edenfield would like to thank JCSO Patrol Division for their diligence in proactively patrolling, the Criminal Investigations Division, the Drug Task Force, and the K-9 Tracking Unit. The JCSO continuously works together to apprehend dangerous individuals in our community and strives to make Jackson County a safe place to live.
