Isolated strong to severe storms and locally heavy downpours are possible, mainly late this morning and afternoon across southwest Georgia and the adjacent Alabama and Florida Big Bend counties.

Overview:

Scattered to numerous showers and storms will develop through the morning near the coast. These storms will spread inland into the Alabama and Georgia counties late this morning into the afternoon. A few storms could become strong to briefly severe with damaging wind gusts possible, mainly in our southwest Georgia counties where daytime heating will be greatest. The Storm Prediction Center has outlined southwest Georgia and the adjacent Alabama and Florida Big Bend counties in a Marginal Risk of severe weather (level 1 of 5).

In addition to the severe threat, abundant moisture will make these storms capable of producing torrential downpours. Localized nuisance flooding cannot be ruled out, but this rain is largely beneficial given recent dry weather.
