TODAY Marks Beginning Of Alabama Legislative Session 2023

MONTGOMERY:      The time of the year has come for everyone in Alabama to worry.

Today marks the beginning of the 2023 Alabama Legislative Session. All Alabama Senators and House of Representatives arrive in Montgomery to begin the legislative session.

Tonight Alabama Governor Kay Ivey will address the joint session of all Senators and House Members, It is called the State of State address.

On Wednesday it is speculated that Governor Ivey will adjourn the regular session and call a Special Legislative Session. That means the legislators can only address what the Governor has listed is the Special Session.

The Special Session is to address the millions upon millions of dollars of ARPA money and how these politicians will spend the money.

Following what is expected to be a two week Special Session the Alabama Legislature will then recess for Spring Break. Sometime in April they are expected to return to the regular session and start addressing business.

The main business item is the passing of a 2023-2024 operating budget for the State of Alabama. All of the laws they pass are side items from their mandated obligation.

So HANG ON ... those smarter than us arrive in Montgomery to mandate what we are to live by. Makes you feel comfy!!!
