On Thursday February 6, 2020 at approximately 9:35 pm, an officer with the Marianna Police Department observed a gray Isuzu sport utility vehicle traveling north on Carters Mill Road. This vehicle was observed to have multiple equipment violations. The officer then attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle for those violations as it entered the Three Rivers Apartments complex.
Once inside the complex, the suspect vehicle began driving erratically. The driver, later identified as Jaymison Marquez Blount, quickly parked and immediately attempted to exit the vehicle, failing to comply with lawful orders. The officer attempted to detain Blount, after a short struggle he was taken into custody. Blount continued to resist officers while being placed into a patrol unit for transport. An inventory of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a clear plastic bag containing cocaine.
Jaymison Marquez Blount was then transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance on the charges of possession of cocaine and resisting an officer without violence.
