JACKSON COUNTY, FLA.: On Monday, July 8, around 7:45 a.m., Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were patrolling the area near Highway 90 and Highway 71 South, when they saw a vehicle driving with an obscured tag. When deputies made contact with the driver, they smelled an overwhelming odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. They also discovered that one of the occupants, Chermaine Lemar Carrol, had an active warrant out of Gadsden County.
When Carrol was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility, correctional personnel discovered two clear baggies, one containing marijuana, and one containing multi-colored pills, later determined to be MDMA.
Carrol is being charged with Introduction of Contraband into a County Controlled Facility, Possession of a Controlled Substance Without a Prescription, and Possession of Marijuana.
