HOLMES COUNTY – Two subjects are charged with possession of methamphetamine following separate traffic stops.


A deputy with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office conducted the first stop Friday, January 15, in the area of Ponce de Leon Springs Rd. and James Ward Rd. in Ponce de Leon, making contact with the driver, 61-year-old Brenda H. Hunt of Ponce de Leon.



A check with dispatch revealed that Hunt had not had a valid driver’s license since 2019. A search of the vehicle was conducted during the course of the stop, with deputies locating drug paraphernalia and a small bottle containing methamphetamine.



Hunt was arrested and is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.



Deputies conducted a traffic stop Saturday, January 16, in the area of Highway 185 and Ethel Lane in Westville, making contact with 33-year-old Dequario M. White of Bonifay.



During the course of the stop, K-9 Highway performed a free-air sniff and alerted on the vehicle to the presence of narcotics. Deputies searched the vehicle, where they located a smoking pipe containing methamphetamine. Deputies also located a plastic wrapping which contained methamphetamine during a search of White’s person.



White was arrested and is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
