Two Eufaula Arrested for Multiple Charges

Investigations in to recent vehicle break-in have resulted in multiple charges placed against two individuals already in custody.
On Friday 9 October, David Jaheem Burks, 19, of Clayton and Branum Thomas, 19, of Eufaula were arrested and held on a charge of Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle. The Criminal Investigations Division and Patrol Division continue to conduct a thorough investigation. Total charges against each Burks and Thomas at this time include:
Unlawful Entry of Motor Vehicle x 13 (felony)
Theft of Property 1st Degree (felony)
Theft of Property 2nd Degree (felony)
Theft of Property 4th Degree x 4 (misdemeanor)
Criminal Mischief 4th Degree x 2 (misdemeanor)
Fraudulent Use of Credit Card x 2 (felony)
The incidents remain under investigation and results from the forensic lab may result in more charges. There are other Agencies involved in the investigations and additional charges may be pending from their jurisdictions. Burks and Thomas are being held in the Eufaula City Jail awaiting a bond hearing. We should note the majority of these crimes were committed on vehicles that were unsecured. We cannot stress enough the importance of removing valuables from your vehicle and locking it every time it is left unattended for any length of time.
All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law.
