On 5/10/2022, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a hunting lease located in Washington County in reference to a report of stolen and damaged property. Upon the deputies arrival, it was determined that multiple items had been stolen to include ATV’s, UTV’s, tractor implements and parts as well as other outdoor equipment including tool boxes.

Washington County investigators began to follow up on leads which lead them to the residence of James Lyman Holley. While talking with Holley, he began to become uncooperative, however an investigator observed items matching a description of some of the stolen property reported in the bed of Holley’s truck. A search warrant was obtained and executed at Holley’s residence, which enabled investigators to recover multiple items that were reported stolen from the hunting lease.

Following additional leads, investigators were lead to the residence of Chip Steven Spence. After interviewing Spence, investigators successfully located the remaining stolen property. The property was recovered in nearby wooded area with the assistance of Washington County Public Works. Members of the Washington County Dive Team recovered stolen property from a nearby pond.

On May 11, 2022 James Lyman Holley was taken into custody and housed at the Washington County Jail on multiple counts of Grand Theft, and currently has a $10,000. 00 bond.

On May 12, 2022 Chip Steven Spence was taken into custody by warrant for the charges of Dealing in stolen property and is currently being held on a $15,000.00 bond at the Washington County Jail.
