It went well. A meeting was set up with the City Council members, the current rec director and the parent board for May 18th to start moving forward immediately with ideas to bring kids back to the Ashford! Parents signed up to volunteer and aid the parent board in their upcoming endeavors to make the Ashford sports program successful. The parent board already has a fund raiser in place selling tee-shirts sporting the “Stay and Play” slogan.
The shirts are $15 each with sizes 2X and larger costing $3 more. $5 from each shirt sold will go to the rec park. You can order a shirt directly from Whit B’ Stitchin’ & More, LLC on Facebook or by calling/texting, Whitney at 334-618-3074, Or you can shop in-store at 67 Jester Street, Cowarts, AL, Monday-Friday 9-4.
A former, successful, rec director, Larry Killingsworth was present and has pledged his support to help mentor and offer advice to the current rec board members who are Jeremy Enfinger, Whitney Ingram Maze, Damon Love, and Thomas Eyler. It was brought forward how everyone in the town of Ashford needs to chip in and work together to turn things around for the kids! There is a lot of work to be done, so stay plugged in, watch for updates, and VOLUNTEER! The Ashford Recreation Sports Association page will be updated and you can find out what is currently going on by visiting the page.
