Update On Brantley Bradley - Please Continue Prayers - He Will Be Having Second Surgery on Thursday

BIRMINGHAM:    6:43 PM    Updated information, May 20th, on our grandson, Brantley Bradley.

In the morning, Thursday, Brantley will undergo another surgery at Children's Hospital in Birmingham. The Neurosurgeons have been increasing pressure on the drainage tube is not performing as needed. They are going to be required to perform the second surgery and place a shunt.

This afternoon the drain tube started leaking spinal fluid. The Neurosurgeons came in and checked him and the team of doctors made the decision this surgical procedure is required.

Naturally Emily is pretty emotional about this. Other doctors met with her and Josh on Tuesday and she was emotional about what they had to say. I was in on that conversation via telephone and do not think that information was bad. It was just that they would have to see Brantley every three months for a period of time in check ups.

People from all over have sent messages and emails of prayers. The prayers have been felt and heard by the main surgeon upstairs. Would ask you to continue to pray for Brantley, the doctors, Emily and Josh, and Mike as well as the family. Most especially tomorrow before - during and after the surgery. It is scheduled at 9 AM on Thursday.

Due to COVID-19 only Emily, Josh and Brantley's dad - Mike have been allowed in with Brantley. Other than facetime the last time I physically have seen Brantley is as he was being placed in Survival Flight at Southeast Health last Sunday evening. We are not even allowed to wait in the hospital.

Emily's husband, Josh Fails, his mother Kay, his sister Stephanie McCorkle have been up there since Brantley went up on Sunday, May 10. He was flown by Survival Flight crew ( my good friend Mark Reynolds one of those crew members ) after my friend, Dr. Fred Pich, the Chief Emergency Room Director at Southeast Health identified the emergency medical issue. We did not know if Dr. Pich had not found the issue of the fluid not draining from the brain there was a good chance Brantley would not have lived through the night.

We do not yet know the entire picture of the future at this time. Depends on how things go tomorrow. Again we can not be in the hospital or see Brantley. But will be across the street in the event Emily or Josh needs us.

We have faith GOD HAS THIS. HE has Brantley in HIS ARMS and all is going to be ok. Please continue your prayers.

ALEA - Trooper Tom Norman met Brantley once at Chic-Fil-A. Yesterday Trooper Norman called me to meet him. He had a Trooper Bear for Brantley. Trooper Norman wanted Brantley to know the Trooper Bear was a gift from all Alabama Troopers, and that he was in their prayers. We want to thank Trooper Norman. That Bear I will give to his mom tomorrow to give to Brantley.

PICTURE 1 was today when his Daddy Josh had Brantley up and walking. In the video they sent he is still not steady in his walk. The other pictures are through they days since May 10 in Brantley's journey at the hospital.

PICTURE 5 is where Brantley was on Sunday May 10 and the following day. So you can see he has been making progress since May 10. We are told this is not a set back but something that is required to allow proper drainage of the fluids from the brain. And that is our prayers.
