DOTHAN: 12:17 AM. We are at Southeast Health with Brantley Bradley, age 7, our grandson.
He has been having headaches. We were at Flowers Hospital Emergency Room last evening and sent home.
Tonight when the pain continued I found out Dr. Fred Pich was on duty at Southeast Health. We brought him to Dr. Pich.
His spinal cord fluid is not draining and causing a back up to his brain which is causing pressure.
Mark Reynolds is on Survival Flight. They are about to fly him to Birmingham. His
mom is flying with him and I am
PLEASE PRAY FOR MY GRANDSON, Brantley Bradley.
UPDATED @ 3:56 AM
The Doctor is in with Brantley. No idea why the fluid is not draining. They plan on doing an incision and inserting a drain.
There are problems with his breathing and have discussed inhubating him. The surgery might begin in about 15 minutes.
So we are in a holding plan.
Emily, Brantley’s mom is a basket case. His dad, Mike is here. His step dad, Josh and Uncle Jason are here along with myself.
The trouble breathing is a major issue.
On Friday we carried him to Flowers Hospital who was to concerned about a second family member checking on Brantley. The did only a blood sample to determine the meningitis and never did a lumbar.
Oh, and making sure I knew who the charge nurse was.
At Southeast Health Dr. Fred Pich jumped on it. Within two hours Dr. Pick had Brantley in the air on Survival Flight on the way to Children’s Hospital. Here things are moving swiftly.
Naturally we are all terrified.
Your prayers are appreciated.
UPDATED @06:00 HOURS
So far we arrived at Children's Hospital in Birmingham. The Survival Flight was about 40 minutes.
They have checked Brantley and it appears fluid that normally drains from the brain that drains through the spine has not been draining correctly.
On Friday night at Flowers Hospital, they checked his vitals and said he was fine and released him.
On Saturday he went to grab his grandmother Kay and his legs turned to spaghetti and could not hold himself up. He was not running a fever. A off duty Dothan Paramedic was there and said to carry him to a doctor on Monday.
As the evening progressed and I found Dr. Fred Pick was on duty at Southeast Health so I carried him to Southeast Health. The meningitis run at Flowers Hospital was a blood and not a lumbar. Dr. Pick performed a lumbar check. He then called and talked with Children's Hospital in Bimingham. He then talked about Survival FLight transporting and Mark Reynolds was on Survival Flight. I said let's go.
The aircraft arrived about 40 minutes before us. They have him in Intensive Care That have inserted the tube to relieve the drainage. And we will then see what steps from there.
His mom and step dad, Emily and Josh are here, his dad Mike is here, his uncle Jason is here and I am here.
We are waiting. Please pray.
