DALE COUNTY:    05:34 AM.   Since around 3 AM Dale County Sheriff Department has been dealing with a situation of a armed person on Highway 51 in the Ariton area.

Reports are shots have been fired.

Due to the situation authorities have delayed Ariton School opening until 10 AM. 

RSN will report further.

Hwy. 51 and Hwy. 123 have been completely closed authority Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson.

Dale County Sheriff Deputies are still on the scene of a residence in Ariton. A young man is armed and reported to be held up in a shed. Early reports were shots had been fired.

Ozark Police Officers are also on the scene. 

This has been on going since about 3 AM.

UPDATED @ 8:22 AM.  

At 8 AM Dale County Sheriff Deputies we’re attempting to communicate with the young man by PA system. The young man fired off a numbers of shots, about 5 shots. The young man began yelling at the Deputies. The stand off continues.

The stand off continues in Ariton. ALEA Troopers and State Bureau Of Investigation Officers On scene.

Someone text and asked was I going live and the answer is no. You never know if subject is watching and I will not place officers in danger showing or describing what all they are doing. The desire is for the young man to surrender. But most definitely that all law enforcement officers return home safely.

I am on the scene and will update.

The subject has been taken into custody without injury to himself or law enforcement. Subject has been transported by EMS under Dale County Sheriff Deputies escort to a medical facility.

Subject fired several rounds since the 3 AM stand off started. Everyone escaped the residence safely.

Once daylight Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson gave orders time is on law enforcement side now that it is daylight. The subject was unable to renter the house. Law Enforcement had visual in him but the Sheriff’s ordered patience concluded this operation without injury.

Multiple agencies on scene assisting Dale County Sheriff Department. Some know ALEA- Troopers, State Bureau Of Investigation, Ozark Police, Dothan Police Department, Houston County Sheriff Department and United Stated Federal Marshall’s.
