DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY:     ALEA Trooper Sgt. Tracy McCord, Post Commander of the Dothan ALEA Office and other ALEA Troopers hit Highway 431 looking for a murder suspect.

With the assistance of a terrific communications officer from ALEA - Dothan who was obtaining information and informing the ALEA Troopers of information.

ALEA Trooper Sergeant Tracy McCord notified ALEA Dispatcher he was behind the suspect vehicle, southbound from Headland. ALEA Trooper Sgt. McCord.

The suspect was reported to be armed and Sgt. McCord reported it looked as if the subject driving could be reaching for a weapon. 

Other ALEA Troopers headed towards McCord, Henry County Sheriff Deputies, Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza and other Houston County Sheriff Deputies, Dothan Police And Kinsey Police.

Once units responding were in a position Sgt. McCord then activated his blue lights to stop the suspect vehicle. When the lights were first activated the vehicle appeared he was not going to stop but quickly saw a lot of law enforcement in position. The suspect turned into Harbor Freight And stopped.

The suspect was a taken into custody without incident.

The suspect’s vehicle had a Georgia disabled vet license plate. The suspect is a murder suspect out of Santa Rosa Florida.

The suspect has been taken into custody by ALEA and transported to Houston County Jail for Santa Rosa County Florida.

Listening the team of officers did a great job. ALEA Trooper Sergeant McCord did a great job of patience. In that Sgt. McCord had ALEA Communications getting law enforcement agencies/officers in position for a quick shut down of the suspect in case of running when the Trooper activated his blue lights to stop the suspect.

PATIENCE is what made this a successful and safe traffic stop and apprehension.

During this Dale County Sheriff Chief Deputy Mason Bynum was having the Dale County Sheriff/Dothan Police helicopter being deployed as a safety precaution.
