HOUSTON COUNTY: As we understood it... This morning while making rounds at Ashford High School a School Resource Deputy responds to a fight at the school. The fight was between two students. When the deputy stepped in to break up the fight the students quickly turned on the deputy. The deputy and a Ashford Officer was able to get both students detained.
Ashford Rescue was dispatched to the school to check out the students and the deputy. The deputy did receive minor injuries. No more information is available at this time.
UPDATED @ 11:17 AM.
CORRECTED INFORMATION - the call to EMS was a “deputy injured by a student”.
NO FIGHT between students. “A” student refused to do anything directed to do and became combative with the Ashford High School Principal, Assistant Principal, and Houston County Sheriff Resource Deputy.
The 14 year old student, after he became combative, injured the Houston County Sheriff School Resource Deputy. Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, personally, responded to the school. No student(s) were in a fight, only a student combative with school staff and the Deputy.
NOTE: The Houston County Sheriff Deputy assigned to Ashford High School is a extremely nice and polite Sheriff Deputy. He set’s good example of how to treat others. If the student became combative rest assured this deputy would politely get the situation under control. In fact, this Deputy faithfully works out and been in some contests on body building. So he could pick this 14 year old up with one hand not expert a sweat. But I can assure anyone who would question he handled this 14 year old with authority, but caution. So if anyone wants to question, even though I was not there, I can answer about this Deputy because I have witnessed his inter actions on many calls over his tenure.
And, he is the wrong one to attempt to get into a fight with ! Just sayin’
