JACKSON COUNTY FL. - SNEADS:    DEVELOPING - A suspect is reported to have opened gunfire on a Sneads Florida Police Officer. Reports are a bullet struck the officer but he had his bullet proof vest on.


The Sneads Officer was ambushed as he arrived. The scene is McKeown Mill Road which is south of Sneads Florida.


Multiple Jackson County Sheriff Deputies and Florida Highway Patrol Officers responded.


The officers got into a gunfire exchange and the suspect was killed. It is not clear at this time if the Sneads Officer was able to return gunfire and kill the suspect or officers coming


The Sneads Police Officer was injured but not killed , due to his wearing a bullet proof vest. The officer was air lifted to the hospital in Tallahassee.


Multiple Law Enforcement Officers are on the scene. FDLE - Florida Department of Law Enforcement has been notified and will be in charge of the investigation due to it being an officer involved shooting.

The Sneads Police Officer responded to the call with Jackson County Sheriff Department. The officers made contact with the suspect and as talking the suspect shot the Sneads Police Officer several times.


The suspect was killed on the scene.
