HOUSTON COUNTY:    2:29 PM    Houston County Sheriff Department SRT Unit and Dothan Police have a house surrounded in east Houston County.

The house is located in the 1300 block of Pleasant Road. A suspect is held up in a house that is a suspect in the robbery of MidSouth Bank in Ashford around noon.

Ashford Police and Houston County Sheriff Department were on the scene and quickly identified the suspect. Houston County Sheriff Department responded to the residence where the suspect is held up inside.

Dothan Police responded with apprehension K-9.

At 2:33 PM the suspect, via phone, has told law enforcement that he is in the bathroom putting his shoes on and about to exit. The suspect was instructed to exit the front door, hands in the air, no hat on or anything in his hands.

The suspect is in custody. He exited the house as instructed by the Houston County Sheriff Department. He told law enforcement before he agreed to exit that he was going to leave the money on the table.

Around noon today the suspect robbed the drive thru window of MidSouth Bank in Ashford. The suspect is reported to have pointed a gun at the bank teller demanding money.

The bank was able to provide a detailed vehicle description the suspect was driving. Within 2 hours and 39 minutes of the armed robbery Houston County Sheriff Department identified the suspect and had him in custody.

Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, Chief Deputy Jeff Carlisle and Major Bill Rafferty are on the scene.
