DOTHAN: 12:16 AM. DOTHAN POLICE CHIEF WILL BENNY, Dothan Police Captain Will Glover and members of the Dothan Police Patrol Division, Dothan Police Criminal investigation Division and Dothan Police SRT Team have been involved in a raid on the residence.
This all began about 8 PM when Dothan Police Patrol Division was dispatched to a shots fired call in the Kristie Lea Road area and Stanley Road area. This is off Scott Road which is off Napier Field Road.
As Dothan Police Patrol Division was in the area shots were fired at a Dothan Police Patrol unit. The Police Officer and Patrol car did not hit a vehicle but shell casings were found in the yard.
As the call and scene developed Dothan Police notified the Command Staff of what was ongoing. The Command Staff, Captain Will Glover and Dothan Police Chief Will Benny responded to the scene.
Dothan Police Patrol Officers removed six people from the residence. The residents said no one else was in the residence but refused permission for the officers to search.
The Dothan Police SRT Team responded to the scene. Dothan Police obtained a search warrant with a Judge’s signature and authorization. In case you are wondering, YES, Dothan Officer’s went to the Judge’s house, waking them, explained the probable cause and legally articulated the reason’s the house needed to be searched. After establishing probable cause the Judge signed the search warrant.
There were two dogs which had come from the house. One looked as if it was a pit bull dog. A Dothan Police Patrol Officer kept the two animals on a leash and safe.
Once the search warrant was signed and in hand, the SRT Team, under the field operations command of Dothan Police Lieutenant Pepper Mock, filed one by one in a line and ballistic styled clothing, with a K-9, to the house.
You could hear over a loud speaker Dothan Police giving multiple, multiple, multiple commands, if you are in the house you need to exit now with your hands up. This is Dothan Police and if you do not a K-9 is about to enter the house and you will be bitten. After the multiple - multiple warning the FINAL WARNING came. With no response the K-9 and SRT Team entered the residence. Loud flash bangs were sounded and glass was broke inside as the Dothan Police SRT conducted a thorough search.
There was no one in the house but Dothan Police recovered several weapons and what appears to be a inside drug growing operation.
Dothan Police Chief Will Benny made it crystal clear, the shots fired, the shots fired in the residential neighborhood, a working class people neighborhood, shots fired at law enforcement officers, and a drug operation WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
There were 30 - 40 Dothan Police Officers on the scene. This activity is not taken lightly and will be met with stern law enforcement.
Dothan Police transported six to ten people to Dothan Police Criminal Investigators where the officers will conduct a detailed investigation. Crime Scene investigators will carefully process the evidence at the residence.
As with Retired Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish did not play, Dothan Police Chief Will Benny takes this serious and this activity will be meet with law enforcement resistance IMMEDIATELY. Tonight was an example that Chief Benny means business in the protection of the Dothan Community, it’s citizens and Dothan Police Officer’s.
