GENEVA COUNTY - FADETTE: This morning law enforcement to include Alabama Game and Fish officers were seen running blue lights and siren from Houston and Henry County.
A off duty Dothan Police Officer was lawfully hunting when shots were fired on him. The off duty officer is reported to have been fired on three times. The off duty officer called 911 and units rolled.
The suspect, Mark Register, was taken into custody and placed in the Geneva County Jail.
The suspect, Mark Register, has a history of shooting at people. Allegations are that Register has puled weapons on emergency units responding to fires which were alleged to have been set by Register. Allegations are that he has placed chains across roadways which vehicles almost struck.
Geneva County Sheriff Department and Alabama Game and Fish are investigating.

The suspect is Mark Dudley Register. He resides at 2718 New Hinson Road, Slocomb Alabama ( Fadette Community ). On January 31, 2023 Mark Dudley Register plead guilty to the offense of Indecent Exposure where he exposed his genitals to someone. Geneva County District Court Judge Stephen Smith sentenced Mark Dudley Register to 365 days in the Geneva County jail but ordered Register to serve 50 of those days in the Geneva County Jail and suspended 315 days of the 365 days on good and lawful behavior.
UNCONFIRMED but this arrest today should revoke the 315 days remaining on the Indecent Exposure and Dudley could legally be required to serve the 315 day sentence in full at the Geneva County Jail.
Mark Dudley Register had a Domestic Violence and Complicity Assault charges in 2009. Those cases were dismissed by then Geneva County District Court Judge Charles Fleming.
