ASHFORD, ALABAMA: 8:40 PM Ashford Police Department was recently in a chase on Rocky Creek Road south of Antioch Church.
About a mile later near Wiggins Road, the suspect wrecked and fled on foot.
K9s are currently out searching for the suspect.
We will update when more information is available.

Ashford Police was in pursuit of a vehicle. The chase ended up on Rocky Creek Road. As the chase progressed and passed Antioch Church and entered the sharp curve south of the church the Ashford Police car left the roadway and struck a large tree. The Ashford Police Officer was ejected from the vehicle. The police vehicle overturned and exploded in fire.
The suspect vehicle continued south from the area the police car wrecked. The suspect vehicle wrecked at South Rocky Creek Road and Creek Church Road. The suspect fled the scene of the wreck he had. Allegedly the suspect had his girlfriend pick him up.
The suspect and his girlfriend ended up at the Ashford Police Station. Houston County Sheriff Department ended up at the Ashford Police Department where the suspect and girlfriend ended up. The two were taken into custody by the Sheriff Department and transported to the Houston County Sheriff Department Administrative Building. Houston County Sheriff Criminal Investigators where they are conducting an investigation.
ALEA - Trooper Sapp is in charge of the accident investigation. The Houston County Sheriff Department is in charge of the criminal investigation.
Ashford Police Chief was on the scene and to the hospital. Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, Major Bill Rafferty and Chief Deputy Jeff Carlisle responded to the hospital, some to the scene, and some to Criminal Investigation. Houston County Sheriff Captain Tony Turner responded.
Also assisting was Cottonwood Police Chief Money and Corporal Pearson, Kinsey Police Chief Jim Mock, Kinsey Fire Chief Jason Reneau, Ashford Fire Chief Jimmy Posey and Ashford Fire Department, Pansey Volunteer Fire Department and Fire Chief Brandon Givens. Ashford Rescue responded and transported the Ashford Police Officer under trauma alert.
Last reports, the Ashford Police Officer was talking, even laughed at something someone said, not the situation. Which they try and get the patient to laugh. The officer was going to C T scan the last report I had.
We purposely held the scene pictures until now to make sure the officer’s family was notified.
