DOTHAN: The wage study being conducted by the City of Dothan was distributed to the employees a couple of weeks ago.
Some were told to turn them in on Monday, November 4. But this past Wednesday, October 30th the employees were told they needed to be turned into their Supervisors by Friday, November 1, 2019.
Then the survey's are to be turned into the Department Heads on Monday, November 4, 2019. The Department Heads will review.
On November 8th the surveys are turned into someone else. That someone else is the Consultant or Personnel Director of the City of Dothan.
In case you are in doubt Dothan, yes I have copies. On Monday I will scan the questions and post.
Some of the City of Dothan workforce are confused. They thought they were to answer these truthfully. But have since found out that management wanted them to answer in groups. Then the workforce found out the Supervisors are reviewing and doing something.
Then the Department Head is reviewing them.
The workforce has expressed some concern to me over the way this study is being conducted.
If the City of Dothan has published or released the cost for this study I have not heard the figures. Several have expressed interest in the cost of the study.

Through the Dothan Eagle the public was informed a wage study "had been conducted". In May when raises for law enforcement came to the surface the public was told a wage study "would have to be conducted".
Thought some "news leaders" might ask for clarification. So far none have grown a backbone and asked.
To me the question still looms, has a study been done? If not, why was it announced that a wage study had been done?
To be fair to the workforce (1) who is conducting this study (2) who selected the people to conduct the wage study (3) how much is the wage study costing (4) how much oversight is the supervisors having in the answers to the questions by the workforce, and (5) how much oversight does the Department Heads have in the wage study?
The only Department Head who turned in a wage study when the City of Dothan had their Lyle Sumek summit was Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish.
That was against the wishes and desires of then Dothan City Manager Mike West and Dothan Personnel Director Delvik Mckay.
But seeing the need in law enforcement, Chief Parrish wanted to be ahead of the curve rather then behind the curve.
And all the Dothan Police workforce received from the management of the City of Dothan, other than Chief Parrish, City Commissioners Beth Kenward and John Ferguson, was empty air.
