Walmart Thief is Apprehended after Fleeing

JACKSON COUNTY, FL - On May 1, 2022, at 4:24 p.m., deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) responded to a theft in progress at Walmart on Highway 71 South.
The suspect, later identified as Billy Earl Harrison, attempted to exit the store with over $335.00 worth of merchandise when he was confronted by Walmart staff. Harrison refused to cooperate and fled the store on foot.
Deputies were on the scene shortly after and observed Harrison enter a nearby business and was apprehended After a brief foot pursuit, Harrison was taken into custody without incident and charged with Felony Theft and Resisting Arrest Without Violence.
Sheriff Edenfield thanks Walmart for their continued partnership and encourages all businesses to report any theft to the JCSO.
"Individuals caught shoplifting from any business in Jackson County will be arrested and charged," he said.
