WALTON COUNTY FL:   My ... My ... what a novel idea.

The Walton County Commissioners constructed a metal building and made that building the Walton County Sheriff Office.

The building sits on the same site as the Walton County Jail. Which is about 40 acres.

With the main offices of the Walton County Sheriff Department is a large fenced area with plenty of room for the storage of the department vehicles, the department boats, all SWAT vehicles, travel trailers for command, bomb trailers, and all equipment needed.

Also on the grounds with the Walton County Sheriff Department is building(s) for the maintenance of the vehicles, the storage of evidence and seized vehicles.

Hey, the Walton County Commission also had the insight to install an above ground fuel tank to allow the Walton County Sheriff Deputies to keep the patrol vehicles gassed up and ready to roll.

Plenty of room to keep the operations together, with plenty of room to operate and function in the service of the public.

In Houston County the Houston County Commission owns around 30 acres on Ross Clark Circle and Cottonwood Road. The location is called the Houston County Farm Center.

Only the hog barns are functional, the arena is a death trap which needs to be torn down. Currently the Houston County Sheriff Department uses the building for the housing of vehicles and to work on vehicles. 

The Houston County Sheriff Department and Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management needs a warehouse area bad. A Dothan businessman let Emergency Management use a building for a year to store COVID supplies. The Houston County Commission is to cheap to build Emergency Management a building which is badly needed. They constructed a storage pole barn for Road and Bridge and wasting $ 2.2 million on Monday on a building which is already not useful for the Sheriff Department.

At the Houston County Farm Center are two metal buildings. Both are equipped with heating and cooling. They are paid for as is the land. The Houston County Commission could make those two buildings the Houston County Sheriff Department by standing walls and running the electricity where needed.

Then construct both the Sheriff Department and Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management the  much needed warehouses, and have plenty of growth room.

However to accomplish this, someone would need VISION. And with the vote on Monday to waste the $ 2.2 million dollars for the Five Star Credit Union Building, all who vote yes are the ones without vision who really care about the future of Houston County.

Houston County grows only because it grows. It is not about leadership because, there is none.

TO THE HOUSTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ... if you purchase the Five Star Credit Union to move the Houston County Sheriff Department to and do not utilize the buildings at the Houston County Farm Center, you have proven you are the south bound end of a north bound donkey.
