Wiregrass Entertainer Sings In A Feature Film Nominated For Oscar

Jeff Golden was very honored to be contacted by an award winning movie director/producer about singing a song in a new feature film. Adrian Saba has won awards for his movies in the past and was looking online for someone that he felt could sing a song in his new movie the way he wanted the song performed. He came across some videos on YouTube of Jeff Golden singing different songs. He had never heard of Golden, but Saba was so impressed with this guy named Jeff Golden that he contacted him and asked him if he would be interested in singing a song in his new movie. At the time, Saba was located in Peru and Golden was in Dothan Alabama. After several Skype calls between the two, Jeff took on the challenge of singing his first ever opera song partly in Spanish. The song is entitled "Nessun Dorma" and is one of the best known tenor arias in all opera. After Golden’s first recording, the director/producer said that he liked it, but it was not exactly what he wanted. Jeff had sang the song, Nessun Dorma, in the style of Luciano Pavarotti. Saba said, "If we wanted you to sound like Pavarotti, we would have paid Pavarotti to sing it for us. I want you to sing it your own way." So, Golden sung the song again, and this time he nailed it exactly the way Saba wanted the song to be sung and recorded. The entire song is in the movie at the climax of the film. The Peruvian Academy selected the movie for entry for Best International Feature Film Nomination at the 96th Academy Awards to be televised from Hollywood California March 10, 2024. Currently the movie is being shown all over Peru and Brazil and soon in the USA. Jeff was given a private link of the film and said, "It was amazing to hear myself singing a song in a feature film. It was definitely different than anything I had ever done before." The movie "Toribio Bardelli" is a 2023 tragicomedy film written and directed by Adrian Saba. It is an international co-production between Peru and Brazil. 

Jeff Golden is originally from Newville in Henry County Alabama. He graduated high school in Abbeville Alabama where he first started his musical career. He now lives in Dothan Alabama with his wife, Denise, and their daughter, Loran.

If you would like to hear Jeff, he will be performing his variety show of country, rock, oldies, and dance music Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the American Legion in Samson Alabama. It is a family friendly show and smoke free. The food bar will be open. Doors will open at 7pm and show time is from 8pm until 10pm. Admission is $7 per person.
